VACUUM DIFFUSION BONDING [Enquire for Collaboration]

A variety of unique jewellery designs made using VDB technology

Vacuum Diffusion Bonding (VDB) is a technology originally developed by NASA for the manufacturing of rocket engine parts. Autium has adopted this technology and converted it for the use of jewellery that is at a fraction of the original processing cost and has reduced the processing time by 50%.

The technology involves the fusing of different materials at the interface, under stringently controlled atmosphere, temperature and pressure; such that each individual element migrates atomically into each other’s domain, forming a permanent bond.

Autium’s proprietary VDB technique is able to bond a broad selection of metals, including platinum, gold, titanium, silver, copper, stainless steel and brass; in layered stripe forms or even complex patterns. Among which, the bonding of gold and titanium, two physically polar-extreme elements, is a world’s first. The multi-metal materials formed by this technique can be applied in jewellery, watch exteriors and watch interiors to create exclusive pieces with infinite design possibilities.
